Master the Art of Getting More Facebook Likes with these 3 Tips
Newly Updated September 3, 2016 – “How do I get more Facebook likes?”
That is one question I get a lot when I talk to people about doing business with Facebook.
I personally feel people are asking the wrong question, that is like asking someone how do I make money with the internet?
Instead, the right question should be:
“How do I become more interesting on Facebook so that more people like me?”
To answer this question, we have to go back to the basics. I like to keep my tricks simple and effective, so today I will share with you the three best tips to get more likes. These tips that have helped us at Post Planner as well as help one of my business pages which has over 28,000 likes.
3 Tips To Get More Facebook Likes
1. Master the 2 Ps of Content
Without content, Facebook is basically an empty online whiteboard.
A friend once ask me what they should post on Facebook. They didn’t know what to post other than promotional content which wasn’t working for the page. So I came up with a simple concept that they can follow.
There are actually three Facebook Ps, but for this, you only need to master two as the third is more about promotional content.
These two Ps are what every business owner need to master before they can build a successful page and getting Facbook likes.
The two Ps of content are:
Personal: This is what most business owners tend to miss. Facebook is such a great platform because you’re able to show the personal side of your business, something not many are able to see when they view your corporate website or your recently posted ad. This an excellent opportunity to show off more content about
- Your personal daily life (daily routine etc)
- Behind the scenes at your work
- Your employees
- Your team having fun

Why? Because being able to connect with your audience personally is what businesses have been trying to do ever since civilization popped up. An audience that trusts and loves your business will lead to a strong community around your brand that is loyal and passionate about what you do.
Purpose: Remember to post content that will add value to your fans, regardless of whether they are humorous, promotional or informative. This step is important as it establishes your brand equity as a page that people trust.
As a Facebook page owner you will need to create posts that inspire people to SHARE your content, and the one common thing that each popular post has is that each of them serves a purpose – spreading a message that the reader will be compelled to share just because they know it will add value to their friends. This is the main concept behind the second P.
Some contents that serve this P are:
- Tips, guides from your industry
- Quotes from your niche
- News that adds value from your niche.

2. Master the Use of Visuals
Facebook is such a visual platform that gives lots of prime space for the posting of photos. So share images to get Facebook likes.
Ignore what the ‘experts’ say, photos are as effective as ever because Facebook’s continued focus towards visually improving the user experience. Photos stands out and it attracts the attention of users.
What you need to know is people tend to scroll their newsfeeds quickly. Text posts just doesn’t stand out and it doesn’t have that same effect as photos do to people.
Here are some ways you can utilise photos, use it to post:
- Motivational images
- Funny moments
- Fill-in-the-blanks/captions photos
- Your blog posts
Here is an example of us utilizing visuals on our Post Planner Facebook page.
Tip: Don’t use stock photos…people have seen it a million times and they tend to ignore them.
3. Master the Art of Personality
Going back to basic points, every page needs to have a personality or a voice. Whether you’re managing your account as a team or you’re single handedly managing it yourself, you need to dive deep down into your soul, take out your personality and splash it onto your Facebook posts.
Having a personality is important because it is personality that is bridging the gap between businesses and their customers. How? Because personality is what allows for conversations to happen between businesses and their customers.
To me, there is no other than stands out in their personality than Erika Napoletano.
Yes, these three tips may sound simple, but trust me, it’s powerful. As Leonardo Da Vinci once said:
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
Although these tips takes time and patience to master compared to other material strategies to grow likes – such as running contests or running marketing campaigns – the relationship and loyalty that your business will get are more fruitful in the long run.
